Star-studded Entertainment on offer


The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo gala evening will enthrall young and old with star-studded entertainment on offer.

The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo gala evening will be held on 26 September 2009, boasting with dazzling performances by the ever-popular Flip-a-Coin, Nadine and Gift Gwe (local Idols-Star). The charming Paul Rothman (former Mr South Africa and Pasella presenter) will act as master of ceremonies. The gala evening will further deliver a memorable showcase of local designers’ genius. The cream of the Southern Cape’s designers will compete for top honors; (take out - in a designer dual (a dual is between 2 people) - here it is between 6!). Isandrie de Jager, Mina Mvula, Jill Lakay, Wilmarie de Jager, Bianca Boshoff and Deidre Snygans will design exclusive evening gowns for the 12 finalists. A panel of top flight judges will choose the winning design. The victorious designer will receive various prizes, including a cash prize and publicity photo shoot.

The 12 finalists will furthermore participate in a swimwear exhibit, showcasing the latest and hippest trends in swimwear, available at Waves Surf Shop in Mossel Bay. Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo will not only become the “Face of the Garden Route & Klein Karoo”, but will also receive numerous prizes including a R10 000 cash prize sponsored by Garden Route Casino. The first princess will receive R5 000 and the second princess R2 500 in cash. The top three finalists will automatically qualify for the regional finals of the Miss South Africa. Finalists stand to win a Miss Photogenic and Miss Personality title as well, with a variety of prizes up for grabs. The luxurious Pinnacle Point Beach & Golf Resort will play host to the glamorous gala evening.
Since the start of July, women residing at local shelters for battered and abused women and children have been participating in a makeover project. The overall winner of the beauty sessions will be announced at the gala event, receiving various prizes. All funds raised through ticket sales as well as entry fees for the beauty contest, will be donated to the local shelters, including Creating Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George), Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn) and Women Who Care (Knysna).

Opportunity still exists for unmarried beauties aged between 18 and 26 to enter for this prestigious beauty pageant. Entry forms are available at the Garden Route Casino as well as various Southern Cape tourism bureaux, including Mossel Bay, George, Riversdale, Oudtshoorn and Knysna. Entries close 18 September 2009.
