Lakeviews Cottage - experience peace and tranquility!
I had the privilege to stay at Lakeviews Cottage over the weekend! The peace and tranquility was just what I needed to relax and switch of for a change! Usually it takes up to a day for me just to start relaxing and to switch off but within less than a hour I was totally relaxed, exept for the stress of the rugby game between the Blue Bulls and the Cruisaders! But this was a fun, relaxing type of stress and of course the Bulls won!
Lake Views Cottage and Noah's Ark are self-catering guest cottages, each set in 11 hectares of pine forest and fynbos. Situated in the heart of the Garden Route, between Wilderness and Sedgefield on a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean above Swartvlei Lake.
We stayed over in Lakeviews Cottage. A charming double story cottage equipped with all modern amenities! There was really not one single thing that we missed! From everywhere in the cottage we could enjoy the magical views, even when doing the dishes!
The views from Lakeviews Cottage cannot be described in words, not even a photograph can capture the magic! This is just one of those places that you have to experience yourself!
If it is peace and tranquility you are after, perhaps some inspiration for creative exploration, or just an idyllic getaway, Lake Views Cottage and Noah's Ark will meet and exceed your needs.
For more information on Lake Views Cottage and Noah's Ark click here! And be sure to book your stay to experience peace and tranquility!

The Elephant Sanctuary - Plettenberg Bay
The Elephant Sanctuary provides a safe haven for our elephants and offers a unique platform for guest education and interaction.
All the programs are guest and elephant driven, which means the most important part of our operation is to ensure happy elephants and satisfied guests. The close encounter with elephants you experience at The Elephant Sanctuary truly is one of a kind.
Their elephants are African Elephants (Loxodonta Africana) whose trust they gained through their unique reward based training. They believe in forming bonds between humans and elephants. To this end, all our elephants are exercised and stimulated daily, which provides a firm foundation for trust.
The Elephant Sanctuary is a family orientated operation catering for both young and old. The focus is on education through interaction, so you will not only learn a lot about elephants, but also get to touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these magnificent animals. Elephants are highly intelligent and delightful – when meeting them you will discover that each one has a different character, personality and temperament.
They have three operations: in The Crags, near Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route, at the Hartbeespoort Dam, only an hour's drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, and in Hazyview, a 10-minute drive from the Kruger National Park.

Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2009
Noluthando Mkhobeni, current Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo, invites all Southern Cape beauties to enter for the prestigious Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo beauty contest. Lisl Windt – photographer
BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE - The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2009 beauty pageant, in aid of regional shelters for battered and abused women, has been officially launched.
Over the last five years, the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo beauty campaign has grown into a community driven event, combating women abuse within the Southern Cape and Little Karoo.
During the 2008 campaign, an incredible R150 000 was generated through means of ticket sale proceeds, supported by an Avroy Shlain campaign in collaboration with Egoli. These funds were donated to three regional shelters; Creating Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George) and Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn), acting as safe havens for victims of women abuse. Funds were utilized to finance operational costs, and path the way for much needed maintenance and upgrades of available facilities. The funds were also directed in aid of the “silent victims” of women abuse; children originating from abusive households. Projects to cater for a children’s activity room and provide for educational books was successfully achieved.
Given the community successes achieved by the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo campaign, the beauty campaign now sets out to include neglected children as beneficiaries of this community project. Dieter Voigt (ex-Mr. SA & Pasella presenter) has joined forces with Garden Route Casino and associate sponsors in aiding the plight of children abuse. Dieter plans to proactively work on his own identified projects with these children, pursuing various opportunities to ensure a promising future for them.
All proceeds generated by the 2009 edition of Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo will be donated to Creating Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George) and Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn) in support of the valiant effort by these safe havens in answering the plight of abused women and children.
Beauty sessions will also be undertaken with ladies residing at shelters for abused women, as added motivation for restoring their dignity and pride. The public – and private sectors within the region are invited to join forces with project leaders and associate sponsors, thereby effectively addressing a social dilemma within the Southern Cape community.
Apart from the immense community value of the campaign, the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo beauty pageant in itself has developed into the social highlight on the events calendar of the Southern Cape and Little Karoo. The Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo gala evening promises to be the highlight, boasting with a showcase of natural beauty and breathtaking fashion. Furthermore, the venue for the event has been moved to the world renowned Pinnacle Point Beach & Golf Resort, adding even more glitz and glamour to the gala evening. Beauty queens from across the region and designers in search of the ultimate spotlight are thus called upon to join the exposé of local beauty and creative genius.

Tsitsikamma Mountain Trail - 2 to 6 day hiking trail
The Tsitsikamma Trail journeying through extensive indigenous forest and mountain fynbos. Ancient river gorges and abundant rivers and streams continually remind us of the creative power of water and the origins of the word Tsitsikamma.
Beginning in Nature's Valley and ending 60-km further at either the Storms River Bridge or Village, this six day, unidirectional trail takes hikers through the heart of the Tsitsikamma Mountains . Shorter variations (2, 3, 4 or 5 days) are possible as each overnight hut has its own unique access route with safe parking at the start.
Optional equipment porterage now provides hikers with the chance of having all their equipment transported between overnight huts. Other activities now permitted include vehicular and mountain bike access to certain overnight huts and informative guided day walks.
The trail's overnight accommodation facilities have been upgraded to an excellent standard and you can truly enjoy magnificent views and relax in comfort at each of the five overnight huts. Baboon, vervet monkey, large-spotted genet, bushpig and bushbuck are often encountered along the route and at overnight huts. Leopard, serval, caracal, honey badger and blue duiker also occur, but are seldom seen. The forests provide ideal habitat for lesser seen bird species, such as rameron pigeon, narina trogon, sombre bulbul, forest buzzard, and colourful sunbirds and flycatchers. The fynbos harbours elusive endemics such as Victorin's warbler, protea canary and the Cape siskin.

Moontide Guest Lodge - Wilderness
Set amidst 400-year-old milkwood trees and a profusion of birds and plants, Moontide is the most romantic of retreats. Located on the shores of the Wilderness lagoon, with gardens that flow into its tidal waters, the lodge is a birdwatchers paradise. Moontide Guest Lodge offers seven en-suite cottages and rooms, each with their own entrance and outdoor seating area. A separate lounge (with TV) and dining room is available for guests, as well as decks and patios with tables and deck chairs, on the waters edge overlooking the lagoon with its rich bird life. Start the day with a great breakfast, served on the terrace overlooking the lagoon. An English and buffet breakfast is served under the 400 year old Milkwood trees in our luxuriant garden. Help yourself to a buffet table of cereals, yoghurt, cheese, breads, juice and milk. The on-duty manager will then offer you a choice of hot breakfast options, served with a bottomless pot of excellent filter coffee, or breakfast or Rooibos tea.Moontide is well located within Wilderness - at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, it is the only lodge right on the lagoon, yet the beach is a four minute stroll from here, while the charming Milkwood Village, with its craft shops, informal eateries and health spa is a 10 minute walk (or three minute drive) away.
